After a weird-in-a-bad-way experience over at fatshionista I've decided to go friends only. If you want to visit send me a message via the comments on this post and tell me about yourself and why you'd like to visit. I'll only consider people who have recent posts on their blog. I know it sounds "elitist" and snobby, but it's not, really. I just don't want to take any chances on finding and acquiring my own personal scary stalker.
While you're waiting for me to get back to you: http://vegancookbooks.blogspot.com/ looks interesting and I wanted to share.
Recent research shows what many of us knew all along: Our moods dictate what we eat.
Researchers studied the diets of people to show how personality and foods collide — how our moods may steer us to certain foods, on the basis of their physical characteristics. The study theorized that many moods send specific signals; for example, stressed adrenal glands could be sending salt-starving signals.
So what does your favorite turn-to food say about you?
| If you reach for… | You may be feeling… |
|---|---|
| Tough foods like meat, or hard and crunchy foods | Angry |
| Sugars | Depressed |
| Soft and sweet foods like ice cream | Anxious |
| Salty foods | Stressed |
| Bulky, fill-you-up foods, like crackers or pasta | Lonely, sexually frustrated |
| Anything and everything | Jealous |

OK. You sent me your reply regarding POD. I understand your "customer service" approach and that is very commendable in this day and age. But, like my concerns about outsourcing ruining the American economy, I am concerned that, because you are such a big on-line seller, in fact most POD books are sold on Amazon, that Amazon going to producing PODs will "hurt the little guy." That's just not what I want to see. If there is a way to address this concern to my satisfaction, I will pass it on to others who are equally concerned and have a much larger reader base on their blogs.
Thanks,
Rose
It looks like they are getting some real complaints. Their response letter is getting a little more to the point. I still think they need to address the difference in POD cost on Amazon and the smaller POD companies. I'll read their whole letter (they say it's on line) and see if they address this
In the mean time, here's there new letter:
After learning of your heavy-handed tactics in your attempt to monopolize the POD venue I've decided to stop purchasing books from you. I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of books in the past from Amazon and have an extensive wish list and shopping cart. I will use these to tell me what books I want to by *from other book sellers* until you discontinue this ruthless and disgusting tactic. Because letters like this from you other customers have been blown off I've decided to try another, more immediate way to get your attention: Every time I buy a book from somewhere else, a book that in the past I'd have purchased through Amazon, I will send Customer Service a note letting them know what I purchased, from where and how much revenue it lost because Amazon chooses the way of the old-fashioned Robber-Baron to do modern-day business. I'm encouraging my on-line and in-person friends to do the same. Some of the on-line friends have quite a large and devoted fan base.
Shame on you!

Dear Rose,
WOW, you really put a lot of work into the your reply to my question about advanced book.
Here are the suggestions I sent to Llewellyn's owner as he requested.
Beyond Wicca and NeoPagan 101
(NeoPagan & Wiccan = NPW)
Below is an extensive, by not exclusive list of topics I think might cover Wicca/NeoPaganism beyond 101. I took the advice of Dianne Sylvan and took a look at books written by Christians about living as a Christian as a template. I did not cover all the topics or books in this category at Amazon by far and I think your company might find even more ideas by extensively researching the types of books other religions write about how to live their particular path.
We hear this question as a complaint. People say there are mostly 101 books available and too few 202 and 303 books.
And as a publisher I agree with the question and the complaint. I want to see more advanced books. I want to read and study more advanced books. I want to sell more advanced books. I want our community to have more advanced books.
But it is a deep matter. We’ve published books that purported to be advanced that really were extensions of 101. And they didn’t sell well. And we’ve published many ‘specialty’ books on subjects of interest to anyone involved in the Occult (and let me use that word here to encompass all the subject matter variously called New Age, Metaphysical, Body-Mind-Spirit, and Spirituality, even Alternative Religion). Please pass this information on.
When San Francisco became the first U.S. city to prohibit large grocery stores and pharmacies from distributing disposable plastic bags in March 2007, it appeared to have sparked a trend. At least a dozen other cities, counties and states were soon considering proposals to ban or severely restrict distribution of what many environmentalists consider a wasteful and harmful product.
The plastics industry had no intention of allowing the San Francisco model to spread without a fight, though. It quickly and quietly joined with retailers and other business interests and launched a successful counterattack, using lobbying muscle to quash proposed bans. In the face of the onslaught, the cities have instituted voluntary recycling programs that proponents of the bans say are ineffective and likely to remain so.
And in at least two instances, plastics interests have turned the tables on their green adversaries by filing lawsuits on environmental grounds in an effort to prevent bans from taking effect.
“The plastic industry … will try to win local battle by local battle,” says Marc Mihaly, director of the environmental law center at Vermont Law School. “They will intimidate where they can. If they can’t intimidate … they will try to influence legislators.”
The rest of the story here. You can also watch the interactive "Paper or Plastic" program at the top of the page.
